GSRN

The GSRN or Global Service Relationship Number is used to identify the recipient of a service. A GSRN enables a service provider to store data relevant to services provided to a recipient. For example, the GSRN can be used for patient identification enabling a hospital to store information about the medical treatment they have received.

GSRNs are fixed length 18 digit numbers composed of a GS1 Company Prefix, a Service Reference Number and a Check Digit. The GSRN is normally assigned by the service provider and may be bar coded using Application Identifier (8018).

The GSRN is constructed as follows:

GS1 Company Prefix >                     < Service ReferenceCheck
Digit
N1N2N3N4N5N6N7N8N9N10N11N12N13N14N15N16N17
