Thailand 7-11 Intelligent Barcode Case Study

Introduction

GS1 Thailand implemented an intelligent barcode system in over 12,000 7-11 stores on their ready-to-eat food product ranges. The data carrier used in the project was the GS1 DataMatrix into which the GTIN, best before date and batch/lot number were encoded. The goal of the project was to improve food safety in the ready-to-eat range by catching expired products at POS. The project included all 7-11 stores as well as the 7-11 manufacturing facilities.
