Welcome to GS1 Ireland Member’s News. This week we have news from across our membership, with many receiving awards and accolades and others hosting or planning some great events. Read on for a full rundown of this week’s news.
An Post named among top postal companies globally for sustainability
An Post was recently ranked third in the world amongst postal companies for sustainability. The Sustainability Measurement and Management System has been used to drive sustainability goals with postal companies globally since 2019.
An Post’s latest sustainability report has them on track for a 50%^ cut in net zero carbon emissions by 2025. An Post managed to reduce its carbon emissions by 12% last year compared to 2021 and by 35% overall since 2009
Today's report states that the company is on track for half of its fleet to be using alternative fuel sources by 2025, with 30% of its fleet already doing so.

Inaugural Kinnegar Brewing Dog Show an Overwhelming Success!
Kinnegar Brewing’s inaugural Dog Show at the brewery’s Ballyraine premises in Co. Donegal took place on Easter Monday last and proved to be a great day out.
Dogs of all shapes and sizes participated in the event, with a total of 125 dogs registered for the show. Over 400 people also attended the brewery on the day, with the highlight of the day being the showcase of Ireland’s nine native dog breeds.
Kinnegar Brewing plan to run future events on their premises including a Summer Street Festival and Oktoberfest. Keep an eye on their website and social media for more details

2 GS1 Members pick up accolades at The IMAGE PwC Businesswoman of the Year Awards 2023
Suzanne Jackson, Director and Founder of SanFran Cosmetics and Cohar Ltd scooped up the Entrepreneur of the Year awards. Meanwhile Caoimhe McAuley, Director of Pharmacy and Superintendent Pharmacist with Boots Ireland picked up a runners-up award for Management Professional of the Year. Congratulations to both!

Beloved café and bakery in Connemara named among Top 100 in Ireland
Builín Blasta Café, Bakery, and Retail in Spiddal, Co. Galway was named in the prestigious Top 100 list compiled by the Sunday Times last month.
The Top 100 list is a highly respected annual ranking that highlights the best food destinations in Ireland, as chosen by Sally & John McKenna of the McKenna’s Guides.

Waterford Whisky Pushing Sustainability to The Forefront
Waterford Whisky has been mentioned in Forbes as one of the 2 whisky brands worldwide that are pushing sustainability forward in the industry. The largest producer of organic malt whisky in the world, Waterford Whisky has introduced the radical biodynamic and organic farming philosophy to the whisky industry through their Arcadian Farm Origin Series.

Iconic Galway beer invites public to tour brewery as doors open for the first time
Galway Hooker Brewery are opening the doors to their production brewery to let guided groups in on the way they brew their range of ales, stouts, and porters. The brewery, located in Oranmore is Connacht’s oldest existing brewery and the third-oldest independent brewery in Ireland.
Join them as part of a group guided tour where you’ll be given the low-down on the West-of-Ireland ingredients they use to brew their beers, the story behind how they came to be, and lots more, including how exactly their beers go from grain to glass.
