The Vegan Sandwich Co. shortlisted for Restaurant of the Year
The Vegan Sandwich Co. has been shortlisted for the Uber Eats Restaurant of the Year Awards 2022. The first such event from the food delivery app will see the winner of the ‘Restaurant of the Year’ win £100,000. Twenty Irish restaurants made the cut and customers have been asked to cast their votes for the best restaurant in Ireland here. Other Irish restaurants to make the shortlist are BóTown, Griolladh and Lennox's.

Nutritics MD shortlisted for EY Ireland Entrepreneur of the Year
Nutritics managing director Stephen Nolan has been shortlisted for the EY Ireland Entrepreneur of the Year award in the 'Emerging' category in recognition of his leadership of the foodservice technology business. Nutritics is a nutrition software package that allows users to easily manage recipes, publish menus, meal plans and more. John T O’Sullivan of BioAtlantis also made the finalist list in the 'International' category. BioAtlantis is a nutraceutical company based in Tralee which provides natural compounds, extracted from seaweed, to reduce stress in crops, animals, and humans. The awards finalists are made of up entrepreneurs who lead high growth businesses and are described as ‘ones-to-watch' for the future. A total of 29 people representing 25 companies have been nominated across three categories in the awards – international, emerging and established. The judging panel includes Denis O'Brien, Aimee Connolly and Joe Hogan. Winners will be announced at an event in November.
Connemara Irish Cream crowned best in the world
Micil Distillery’s new Connemara Irish Cream has been crowned the best in the world at the World Liqueur Awards 2022. The company's Heritage Poitín also won Best Grain Spirit in the world in the Unaged Spirit category. The announcement comes shortly after Micil took home the award for Best Contemporary Irish Gin at the World Gin Awards. Micil Connemara Irish Cream was launched in 2021, and a 700ml 17% abv bottle has a recommended retail price of €29. You can find a full list of Micil Distillery stockists here.
Two Irish Cheesemakers win at UK Artisan Cheese Awards
Two GS1 Ireland members were awarded at the Artisan Cheese Fair at Melton's livestock market this month. Bluebell Falls took the award for 'Best Small Producer' for its Bluebell Falls Goats Cheese while Velvet Cloud was name 'Best Irish Cheese'. The awards ceremony coincided with the two-day Artisan Cheese Fair, at Melton’s livestock market, at the weekend, which drew thousands of visitors with many producers reporting record sales.
