Biasol shortlisted for innovation award

BiaSol has been announced as a finalist in the The Irish Times Innovation Awards in the Manufacturing and Design category. Biasol is a family owned business specialising in the production of nutritious, zero-waste food products. They are soon to launch their first product, 'Super Milled Grains' nationwide which makes use of spent grain utilised in the brewing process to make a 'nutrition boost' product high in fibre and protein that can be added to foods. The company, which was set up in 2020, has recently been names as a finalist in the 'Emerging New Business' category of the Small Firms Association Awards in April. From their headquarters in Tullamore, they work with four breweries to turn the spent grain into 'Super Milled Grains' of which one tablespoon of provides 10% of your recommended daily intake of fibre. The Irish Times Innovation Awards aim to recognise and promote the best service, product, or operational innovations nationwide. The finalists were selected by an independent panel of judges to secure a place at the final and a chance to win the overall ‘Innovation of the Year’ award as well as a communications and advertising package worth €100,000. Category winners will receive a €10,000 communications package in Business and Innovation and a one year premium digital subscription to The Irish Times. Winners will be announced in March 2022.

W.D O’Connell expands to the Swedish market

W.D O’Connell Whiskey Merchants have secured a distribution deal in Sweden, through their distribution partner Northern Beverages. The company's range includes single grain, peated single malts, exclusive single casks and pot still whiskeys. Sweden is the ninth country that W.D. O’Connell Whiskey Merchants is supplying to, with distribution deals already in place in the US, South Africa, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, the UK and Ireland.

Micil Irish Gin wins World Gin Award

Micil Distillery has won the award for Best Contemporary Irish Gin for their Micil Irish Gin at the World Gin Awards 2022. Micil Irish Gin is made using 17 botanicals including 4 handpicked Connemara flowers & herbs; bog bean, bog myrtle, heather and hawberry. The awards are judged blind by industry experts. Micil Irish Gin is available at McCambridges of Galway, Joyces Supermarkets, The Celtic Whiskey Shop, Online at IrishMalts.com and through independent off-licences in Ireland.
