December 2024
Dear Member,
Thank you for your continued support and use of GS1 standards. As a member-governed, not-for-profit organisation, GS1 Ireland takes pride in offering a comprehensive portfolio of licences, services, and tools designed to empower organisations to grow efficiently, sustainably, and safely.
As we approach 2025, we recognise the significant rise in service sector costs, which have outpaced general inflation. Consequently, we wish to inform you of adjustments to some of our licence fees, effective from 1st January 2025. These changes will apply only to members with a turnover exceeding €5 million and will be automatically implemented.
To support business start-ups and artisan producers, the Barcode Licence GCP 11 and Barcode Licence GCP 9 will remain exempt from these price adjustments for members where the audited (or verified) turnover is below €5 million.
We are encouraged by our members’ growing adoption of GS1 standards and solutions, such as Barcode Manager, Verified by GS1, GS1 Digital Link, and global product registries, to adapt to evolving buyer and marketplace demands. In 2025 and beyond, we are committed to supporting members through the rollout of next-generation barcodes, including GS1 QR Codes and Data Matrix, across all sectors.
Our promise to you remains unwavering: we will provide the tools and support needed to thrive in an evolving business environment. GS1 standards will continue to enable seamless identification, capture, and sharing of information to enhance supply chain efficiency, support regulatory compliance, and advance traceability and sustainability initiatives.
We will also continue to invest in new tools & services, for example our online knowledge base and Chat Bot for out of hours support & guidance, and now also provide our Logistics Label Tool for no additional cost as part of your licence fee.
You may find information about GS1 Ireland’s portfolio of training, consultancy services and other tools here on the GS1 Ireland website.
We are here to meet your needs in product identification, traceability, sustainability, and labelling. Please do not hesitate to contact us — our Sector Engagement teams are ready to assist.
We will continue to review our fee structure regularly and will notify you in advance of any changes.
Thank you once again for your ongoing support and partnership. Your business is greatly valued by everyone at GS1 Ireland.
Yours sincerely,
Mike Byrne, Chief Executive GS1 Ireland
