Welcome to GS1 Ireland members' news for week 42 2021. This week, GS1 Ireland members embrace Halloween with pumpkin patches and carving competitions. Read on for more.

Ballycross Apple Farm open their Pumpkin Patch

The Pumpkin Patch and Witches Village at Ballycross Apple Farm, Wexford, will open this weekend, just in time for Halloween. Families can visit the Witches Village, pick a pumpkin and take a tractor and trailer ride back to the farm. Child tickets cost €5.50, Adult €6.50, family group discounts are available and booking is not necessary. The farm will open at the earlier time of 10 am-noon for children with additional needs on October 26th and 27th (admission is free for the child and 1 carer). Pumpkin prices vary by size. The cafè will be open with delicious breakfast options and sandwiches, soups and waffles, hotdogs, burgers, chips, popcorn, and ice cream from Scúp Gelato. Opening times are listed below.

Donnybrook Fair launch their Pumpkin Carving Competition

Donnybrook Fair has launched its pumpkin carving competition on its Instagram page. To enter, simply take a snap of your carved pumpkin, share on your Instagram stories and tag Donnybrook Fair, the top three pumpkin carvers will win a Donnybrook Fair hamper full of chocolatey treats and snacks for Halloween. The winners will be chosen on Tuesday 26th October.

A Bit on the Side was selected as the Irish Examiner 'Favourite Foodstuff of the Week'

Food writer Joe McNamee has selected Irish brand 'A Bit on the Side' as his 'Foodstuff of the Week'. He described the range as 'a superb range of jellied condiments using premium Irish produce that adds wonderful grace notes of flavour to all manner of foodstuffs, especially cheeses and meats, without ever overwhelming the star of the show — and the potential flavour combinations are near infinite.'
