McCain invests $55m in Strong Roots

Strong Roots and McCain Foods have announced a new partnership, with McCain Foods investing $55 million in the plant-based frozen food company, constituting a minority stake in the business. The partnership will enable Strong Roots and McCain Foods to continue meeting the rising consumer demand for plant-based frozen foods. The Strong Roots range, including cauliflower hash browns, mixed root vegetable fries, bites and burgers, has became a firm favourite of consumers in Ireland, the UK and the US.

Guinness And Keogh’s launch Guinness flavoured Crisps

Guinness and Keogh’s have launched a new ridged crisp with a Guinness and Flame Grilled Steak flavour. The limited-edition crisps are available exclusively at the Guinness Storehouse, Guinness Open Gate Brewery, Guinness Christmas pop-ups and on Keogh’s online farm shop. The collaboration will continue into next year, with wider availability in retail stores from January. The historical link between the Guinness and Keogh’s families goes back over a number of generations with Tom Keogh’s grandfather, Peter Keogh, selling grain to the brewery.

Mama Nagi's and Nik’s Tea secure Morton's listing

Following an online ‘Meet the Buyer Event’, where 15 Dublin producers met with Ranelagh retailer Morton's, six Dublin producers have secured a listing, including Terenure’s Nik’s Tea and Firhouse sauce producer Mama Nagi. The event was organised by Dublin Food Chain which is the largest food network in Europe and facilitates commercial activity between Dublin’s growing food producer, service and retail communities. The Dublin Food Chain is an initiative of the Local Enterprise Offices in the Dublin area and supported by Bord Bia.

IFS rebrands as Fexillion

GS1 Ireland platinum partner, Integrated Facilities Solutions (IFS), has announced its new corporate brand identity and digital platform, Fexillon. The company supports a number of leading businesses across Ireland, the UK and Europe such as Bank of Ireland, Mater Hospital, Hines, University of Strathclyde, Dublin Zoo, Fingal County Council, and other multi-national technology companies. The rebrand is part of a growth strategy that will involve expansion in operations in the US, UK, and Scandinavia with the recruitment of 100 new staff over the next three years. Fexillon also confirmed that it is partnering with Microsoft in the development and testing of a range of solutions. Fexillon (IFS) was founded over 20 years ago by George Harold and Kieran Beggan who were both graduates of DIT Bolton Street.

Profits soar at Suzanne Jackson’s companies

Millions in profits rolled in last year for companies owned and co-owned by the entrepreneur behind the lifestyle SoSueMe blog, Suzanne Jackson. New sets of accounts filed by her companies confirm soaring profits at her portfolio of businesses during the pandemic. Ms Jackson, who announced she was relocating from Ireland to Portugal earlier this year, is the founder and CEO of the bestselling beauty brand, SOSUbySJ and also presents RTÉ’s The Style Counsellors. The entrepreneur set up the SoSueMe blog in 2010 at the age of 25 and is also a co-owner of SanFran Cosmetics Limited along with Fran O’Gorman.
