Wayward releases a new version of The Liberator small batch

Wayward Irish Spirits has released a new Storehouse Special, a cask strength version of The Liberator Small Batch – Double Port. In conversation with fft.ie, founder Maurice O’Connell explained: “The Liberator Small Batch is our premium blend with a high (42%) malt content; the components are 2006 malt and 2010 grain from Cooley and 2015 malt and grain from Great Northern. The older Whiskeys were in ex-bourbon casks throughout, the younger ones started in bourbon and were then finished in really fresh Tawny and Ruby Port casks for between 9 and 12 months.”

The Liberator Storehouse Special is available now from specialist whiskey retailers including The Celtic Whiskey Shop and James Fox in Dublin. For every bottle of The Liberator Irish Whiskey sold in May and June a donation will be made to Reforestation Nation to plant a tree in Killarney, following the devastating fires in Killarney National Park.

Neurovascular medical device company Perfuze, which is headquartered in Galway, has announced that the first five acute ischaemic stroke patients have been treated with its Millipede 088 clot aspiration catheter, having received CE mark approval for the device in February of this year. “Our initial experience with the device has been very positive,” said interventional neuroradiologist John Thornton (Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, Ireland), who performed the first case. “Our super bore aspiration technology has the potential to increase the rate of first pass TICI 3 thrombectomies while saving time—both of which may translate into better clinical outcomes for stroke patients,” said Perfuze CEO Wayne Allen.
