W.D. O’Connell Whiskey release 10-Year-Old Single Grain
W.D. O’Connell has released a new 10-year-old single grain whiskey, in a small batch release of just 600 bottles. The launch marks the beginning of a new single grain series from the company, starting off with a Bourbon & Rye release. This release was distilled in Cooley and matured in ex-bourbon casks for 10 - 12 years before being part finished in ex-rye casks. It is described by the brand as 'rich, full-bodied grain whiskey with the distinct vanilla, caramel & honey notes of a grain with a vibrant oak spice finish'.

Irish start-up Ostoform strikes distribution deal in the US
Ostoform, an Ireland-based start-up, and Medline, a US manufacturer and distributor of medical products, have joined forces for the launch of a range of ostomy barrier rings in the US. Ostoform developed a device for stoma users to help direct the flow of stoma output away from the skin and into the ostomy pouch, ensuring that the surrounding skin stays healthy. As three clinical studies have successfully demonstrated the effectiveness of the 'Ostoform Seal with FlowAssist Protection' and with the company securing FDA approval, Medline will begin distributing Ostoform products across the US.

Investment of over €4million for Irish hemp start-up
An Irish start-up has raised €4.5 million in investment to provide loans to farmers in Ireland and across the world to encourage them to grow hemp. Founded by Paul Walsh and Mark Canavan, Meath-based Greenheart CBD, manufactures a range of organic cannabidiol (CBD) products. Farmers will be able to sign up for a package that allows them to start growing hemp immediately. As well as seeds, they get a drone and other technology that allows them to produce high yield, high-quality crops. Greenheart will then buy the crop from them for use in their products.

Irish company’s Mude drink to be included in Oscars goodie bag
Drink made by Irish start-up, The Naked Collective, will be included in the goodie bag that will be given to attendees at the main pre-event for this year’s Academy Awards. This could provide a huge sales boost for the company, if the stars choose to promote it on their social media. The goodie bags have become an important part of the event with brands vying with each other to be included. The estimated value of the goodies given to Oscar nominees last year was $225,000.

Lidl launch low-calorie ice cream range made by Silver Pail Dairy
Lidl have launched a brand new range of low-calorie, high protein ice-cream at affordable prices. The range is made exclusively for the Lidl by Silver Pail Dairy based in Co. Cork and comes in three flavours; chocolate, peanut butter and salted caramel.

Stong Roots US business growing rapidly
Irish frozen food company, Strong Roots, stated, in an interview with the Irish Independent, that its US business is growing at 'over 100pc' as it makes progress to meet and possibly exceed its target of €100m in revenue by 2023. In 2019, the company, which is best known for its frozen plant-based burgers and bites, secured €15.36m in its Series A funding round to support growth in the US, UK and Ireland. Congratulations to Strong Roots on their massive international success.
