Welcome to GS1 Ireland's members' news for week 50. The National Startup Awards 2020 shortlist has been announced, a Donegal beer wins gold and a popular coffee shop opens their third store. Read on for more.

Made in Kilkenny pop-up shop

A pop-up shop has opened in John Street, Kilkenny showcasing the best of Kilkenny's arts and crafts. There are many GS1 Ireland members' wares on display including, Jerpoint GlassNicholas Mosse and Aisling McElwain Ceramics. Products are available direct from makers and as well as in the Made in Kilkenny pop-up shop at John Street until Christmas Eve. For more information on Made in Kilkenny click here. International Gold for Donegal’s Very Own Lager

Donegal’s own lager, DL, made by Kinnegar Brewing in Letterkenny, has won gold in its category at the 2020 Brussels Beer Challenge. Congratulations Kinnegar!

Popular Cork coffee company opens a third store

Cork Coffee Roasters opened the doors to its third coffee shop at 16 Anglesea Street on Wednesday morning of last week. They hand-roast all of their coffees in Cork using small-batch traditional methods. Congratulations Cork Coffee Roasters!

Sweet Beat Launch Online Christmas Shop

Sligo’s Sweet Beat Cafe has launched a new website featuring an online Christmas shop with plant-based Christmas foods, Christmas hampers, stocking fillers and eco gifts. The store features many Irish plant-based products like those from Bean & Goose, Burren Balsamics, Highbank Orchards, White Mausu, 3FE Coffee, Rebel Chilli, Achill Island Sea Salt and many more. Whiskey Gifting Campaign Launched

Drinks Ireland|Irish Whiskey has launched their 'Made in Ireland, Made for Gifting' campaign, encouraging consumers to support Irish whiskey brands when shopping this Christmas. The campaign will highlight the great range of whiskey gifts on offer from Irish distillers. The list includes offering from Connacht Whiskey Distillery, Teeling Distillery, Glendalough Distillery and Powerscourt Distillery. Gubbeen Farmhouse Products shortlisted for Diversification Award in the West Cork Farming Awards

Gubbeen Farmhouse Products who make the famous Gubbeen cheese have been shortlisted for a Diversification Award in the West Cork Farming Awards. The diversification award recognises farmers who prioritise biodiversity including hedgerows and tree growing. The winner of the Diversification award will be announced at  The Southern Star and Celtic Ross Hotel West Cork Farming Awards live-streamed presentation ceremony, which will take place on Friday, December 18th. Brooke and Shoals win RSVP Magazine Spa Award

Brooke and Shoals Lavender, Cyclamen & Sea Salt diffuser won Best Reed Diffuser in the RSVP Magazine Spa Awards. Irish Times Innovation Awards shortlist announced

Fifteen technology companies have been shortlisted for the annual Irish Times Innovation Awards. Among the shortlist are two GS1 Ireland members; HidraMed Solutions, which is developing advanced dressings for people with Hidradenitis Suppurativa and Oriel Sea Salt Co (trading as Oriel Marine Extracts) which identified and developed an eco-friendly way of harvesting nutrients present in seawater. The winners will be chosen by an independent panel of judges chaired by entrepreneur and Irish Times columnist Chris Horn. The awards ceremony will be held virtually on January 27th. Congratulations and best of luck to our two shortlisted members.
