Denis O'Brien

Denis joined GS1 Ireland in 2012. He is an accredited “Global Traceability Conformance” Auditor and Auditor trainer. Denis specialises in production and traceability systems, particularly for the food industry, but has also designed systems for other manufacturing and healthcare sectors.

Previously, Denis was the Group I.T. Manager for an Irish Multi-National Food Processor for over 15 years. In this role, he was responsible for all aspects of Information Technology within the group. Due to the nature of the business, one of his primary roles was the design, development and implementation of a range of production management and financial processing systems in a wide variety of processing facilities throughout Ireland and the UK.

More recently, Denis has provided consultancy services on all aspects of software development and implementation, particularly in the manufacturing, logistics and healthcare sectors, providing software solutions and other services to SME’s, large multinationals and to the public sector.

In 2014 Denis was awarded an MSc. in ‘Technology and Innovation Management’ from the Dublin Institute of Technology and received the ‘Business and Finance Computer Professional of the Year’ award in 1995.
