We have been working collectively with our members, standards organisations (W3C) and search engine companies to make it easier to discover and describe products on the web. This work has lead to the release of the
GS1 SmartSearch Standard.

These benefits are made possible by creating
structured data about a product and relating this data to its GTIN. The structured data about the product can then be used by search engines, smartphone apps, etc. to deliver a richer experience to the consumer.
