GS1 Ireland awards Trident with GS1 Standards Solution Certification.

GS1 Ireland is delighted to announce that Trident, an ITW Company and leading global print solution manufacturer, has been awarded GS1 Standards Solution Certification through its Solution Provider Programme.

GS1 Ireland is part of GS1 (Global Standards 1) the global supply chain standards agency, a neutral, not-for-profit organisation with over 2 million members globally. The aim of the GS1 Solution Provider Programme is to foster a close working relationship between solution providers and the almost 3,000 GS1 Ireland members that require suppliers to deliver solutions that enable efficient supply chains. GS1 Certified Solution Providers have demonstrated their commitment to GS1 Standards by undertaking a rigorous process of assessment to demonstrate their knowledge and expertise in correctly deploying GS1 Standards within the solutions they offer the market place.

"Trident recognises and supports GS1's important role in setting global standards for supply chain management. We have a common goal in marking and coding of secondary packaging to produce consistent, verifiable, readable and cost effective GS1 Bar Codes" explained Des O'Neill, European Business Manager at Trident.

Globally it is acknowledged that GS1 Barcodes contribute to supply chain efficiency. In an increasingly regulated and complex world the demand for product information, by way of batch and serial numbers, expiry dates and product codes can be met through the use of barcode technology. However, the demand for more intelligent barcodes, encoding dates and other traceability information has placed constraints and pressures on traditional printing technologies.

In becoming a GS1 Certified Solution Provider Trident has proven its detailed understanding of GS1 barcode quality requirements and has undergone rigorous tests to demonstrate that their impulse ink jet technology can produce high quality symbols in line with GS1 General Specifications.

Through GS1 Ireland’s Certification Programme Trident has demonstrated it can produce high-quality GS1 compliant barcodes at high-speed printing speeds.  Trident's impulse ink jet technology employs a piezoelectric crystal that changes shape when an electric field is applied across it. This technology allows Trident to produce High Quality GS1 128 symbols to encode with variable information. The technology can help companies implement GS1 traceability solutions, reduce costs and fulfil customer requirements more efficiently.

Direct printing onto outer packaging using digital inkjet printing is the most cost effective method for printing bar codes with up to 10x in cost savings compared to labels.

“Trident is very pleased to have attained GS1 Certified Solution Provider Status,” continued Mr. O´Neill. “This enables our OEM partners to deliver complete printing systems featuring Trident technology to the end user market with the reassurance that the technology has met strict GS1 criteria for superior bar code production.”

Commenting on the award, Mike Byrne, CEO GS1 Ireland said: “Through its achievement of GS1 Certification, Trident has clearly proven their understanding of GS1 standards and a commitment to the development and implementation of standards-based solutions. For GS1, as a neutral organisation, it is very important to have a clearly defined, impartial mechanism for supporting the needs of our members to source GS1 enabled solutions. The GS1 Solution Provider Programme, with its directory of participants and Certified providers, is an ideal way to enable Members to shortlist prospective suppliers. GS1 Ireland is pleased to recognise Trident as a GS1 Certified Solution Provider”.
