QR code with GS1 Digital Link syntax
2D barcodes are used in a wide range of industries, from manufacturing and warehousing to logistics and healthcare. They can hold significant amounts of data in a relativity small symbol.
The two most widely recognised 2D barcodes are QR Codes powered by GS1 and GS1 DataMatrix barcodes which can both be used to store the Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) as well as additional information such as an expiry date or a serial number.
The QR Code powered by GS1 can extend a product’s packaging, acting as a gateway to consumer information online such as ingredients, allergens and nutrition, sustainability information, recipes or usage instructions. The QR Code powered by GS1, also known as the GS1 Digital LInk QR Code, is currently being adopted globally for point-of-sale scanning, consumer engagement and regulatory compliance applications. You can read more about the use cases and view a selection of case studies in the Retail section of our website.
