Purpose

In this dynamic role, you will work with the Head of Healthcare and Innovation to deliver the GS1 Ireland Healthcare Strategy, advancing the adoption of GS1 identification and traceability standards across Ireland’s healthcare sector. 

Key Responsibilities

Project Coordination & Operations  

  • Support project planning to assist with the implementation of GS1 Traceability Standards in healthcare settings. Assist with the development of proposals and presentations.  
  • Develop user guides, implementation guidelines, and training documentation. 
  • Stay informed on business practices, emerging technologies, and healthcare innovations relevant to GS1 traceability standards, contributing to ongoing research and insights. 
  • Support the Head of Healthcare & Innovation with day-to-day operational activities.  

Stakeholder & Member Support  

  • Engage with internal teams, GS1 Ireland members, and external stakeholders supporting the adoption of GS1 Traceability Standards. 
  • Support the definition and delivery of adoption steps and engagement activities to drive GS1 standards implementation. 
  • Provide technical information and education on GS1 standards, including support for training and delivery to GS1 Ireland Members. 
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of GS1 Ireland technical and non-technical documentation. 
  • Provide input on supply chain processes, application of solutions, and market trends into GS1 Ireland’s work in healthcare. 

Community & Events  

  • Attend working groups and relevant discussions, document outcomes and follow-up actions. 
  • Assist in planning and delivery of industry events, conferences, and webinars. 
  • Support the Head of Healthcare & Innovation, where GS1 Ireland participate in workshops and industry forums.  
  • Liaise and collaborate with the wider GS1 network. 

Skills and Attributes 

  • Logical, analytical, and tech-confident: comfortable with emerging digital tools as well as advanced Microsoft Office skills; strong attention to detail about formatting and presentation quality. 
  • People-oriented: strong relationship-builder and clear communicator (written, verbal, presentation). 
  • Highly organised: excels at planning, time management and accurate record-keeping. 
  • Adaptable team player who works independently, protects confidentiality, and pursues continuous learning. 

Experience & Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare, or a related field is required. A postgraduate or Master’s qualification is desirable. 
  • Minimum 3–5 years+ of experience in healthcare, supply-chain, IT/digital or standards implementation. 
  • Hands-on project, training, or product-support experience; exposure to GS1/traceability or digital-health tools is a plus. 
  • Background in supply-chain, software, or information-management environments in healthcare would be beneficial, and Scan4Safety experience is a huge benefit.

Travel Requirements:  

This role is office-based in Dublin but may require travel within Ireland and occasionally within Europe. Hybrid working options are offered.

What is Scan4Safety?  

Scan4Safety is a digital strategy in hospitals and other healthcare settings aimed at improving patient safety, increasing operational efficiencies, and freeing up clinical time. It utilises barcode scanning and unique identifiers to enhance traceability of items used in patient care, ensuring safer care and reducing risks. This system allows hospitals to track items from the supplier to the patient, providing real-time visibility and enabling better inventory management and decision-making.
