EDI Invoice Message

With increasing globalisation and growing competitiveness in certain markets, the most progressive organizations are committed to performing better, with fewer resources and less operational costs.

Amongst some options which can be adopted to achieve this goal, process dematerialization (process simplification and removal of paper based transactions) offers a good opportunity for companies to reduce their costs of storage and data processing, to optimise their administrative tasks, as well as for promoting their productivity and efficiency.

The GS1 EDI Invoice message allows a substantial economy of resources, by reducing the costs of transmission and reception of invoices, accelerating the flows of communication amongst companies, with a greater transparency and confidence level with customers, suppliers and accounts departments.

GS1 Ireland is promoting the introduction of the EDI Invoice message in 2011, particularly into entire sectors where its adoption has been limited heretofore.

The advantage of such a sector-wide approach is that GS1 can broker universal agreement on the business model & standards best suited to each respective sector before project commencement.  This will standardise communication amongst trading partners.

Beginning with the DIY & Builders Merchants sector, GS1 Ireland is currently examining other sectors where the introduction of the e-invoice makes commercial sense.
