Data Pool Upload Methods

Getting your data right, first time
There are many ways to interact with the GS1 Ireland data pool. Below, the various communication & message options available to users when uploading data to the GS1 Ireland Data Pool are outlined.
 
Uploading/Downloading Methods
There two aspects to uploading and downloading data;
1) the communications options
2) the message formats.
 
The communications options suppliers can choose between are:
  • Traditional EDI using an X.400 network
  • Secure Internet using the GS1 AS2 Protocol
  • Using Internet web forms with secure Sign-off
  • Using secure E-mail with an attached file.
 
The message formats that can be used are as follows:
  • Price Catalogue based on EDI transmitted using AS2, X.400 or Secure E-mail
  • Other Propriety file formats such as idoc from SAP*
  • SA2 WebForms – direct online access
  • Excel file upload with option to edit data via SA2 WebForms
  • Flat file similar to webforms
  • And finally, XML messaging based on the GS1 Item Synchronisation message using AS2 or E-mail attachment or upload with option to edit data via SA2 Webforms.
 
*Some of these message formats such as flat files and proprietary files may incur separate set up costs.
