GS1 Training Courses
GS1 Ireland runs courses througout the year on the topics of Barcoding and EDI. Please see below a brief overview of each course and workshop. In addition to structured training GS1 Ireland also runs a number of workshops and seminars througout the year on a variety of industry relevant topics including serialisation and identification (aimed at the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors), traceability, legislation and regulation and supply chain efficiency. Barcoding Courses and Workshops
The GS1 barcoding courses have been specifically created to walk you through all of the steps of allocating and managing your barcodes in line with best practices and global GS1 standards. There are two levels on the GS1 barcode training course. You may choose to complete both levels on the same day or to take Level 1 initially and return on a second occasion for Level 2.
Introduction to Barcoding and the GS1 System (Level 1)
This course is a must for all new members or those new to the role of managing product barcode numbers. This course provides attendees with a solid foundation for getting bar coding right; from the structuring of the code numbers to selecting the right symbol. No previous knowledge of barcoding is required for this course.

Supply Chain and Logistics Barcoding (Level 2)
This course has been specifically designed to meet the needs of Irish manufacturers and suppliers selling to retailer outlets. The course addresses specific business requirements such as couponing for promotions, barcode identification of variable weight products and logistics unit identification, labelling and data sharing. The Level Two course builds on the foundational knowledge acquired in Level One. Previous knowledge of barcoding is required for this course.

SSCC and Logistics Label Workshop
The objective of this workshop to educate members on the correct way to:
- Create Serial Shipping Container Codes using their registered Global Company Prefix (GCP)
- Generate SSCC barcodes in the GS1-128 barcode symbology
- Lay out a logistics label (outer case or pallet label) in line with global specifications.
As part of this workshop attendees will also become familiar with the technical and quality standards required for SSCCs and GS1-128 barcodes.

EDI Courses
The GS1 EDI course explains the "what" and "why" of EDI in an easy to follow and non technical manner. The objective of this course is to give participants an understanding of how EDI messages are built, using GS1 standards, to support the supply chain. The course is broken into three sessions over two days.
